Popcorn Cooked Three Ways
I love popcorn and I love a challenge. This page showcases three studies I created around my favorite snack. The first is "Meet the Pops", a character creation exercise based around puns. The second is "PPCRN", a high fashion mood board showing what pieces I would pull if I created a collection based around popcorn. The third is "Orville Reimagined", a callout to rebrands lately (I am guilty) and how they all kind of look the same.
Meet the Pops: Popcorn Illustrations
This exercise looks at popcorn and the abundance of puns available with the name and the food. I decided to create a family of kernels that all have their own personalities and bring something different to the bowl.
PPCRN: Fashion House
PPCRN is an imagined high fashion house centered around the numerous organic shapes and varying colors associated with popcorn. I pulled these images from Pinterest and luxury brand sites.
Orville Reimagined
This study is poking fun at the new age of "millennial rebranding", something I am guilty of falling for and loving on occasion. I took Orville Redenbacher's branding and redesigned it to be from the most milennial brand perspective possible. The checklist included: a gradient background, an interesting/organic font in all lowercase, the cruel eviction of Orville from the logo, a single abstracted kernel as the new star. With this formula, I believe Orville Redenbacher could double charge for their bags.
